LASIK Vision Correction
As an optometrist, Dr. Roberts can provide the most complete, careful, and EXACT refractive measurements. Getting the most accurate prescription on which to set the laser is the best way to minimize over and under correction from the start. Selecting the best surgeon that uses the latest generation lasers will give you the
best results.

LASIK Isn't Always the Answer
Some patients will be better off without surgery. Some patients may even be trading one vision problem for another in view of their age or other prescription variables.

Discussing your lifestyle vision needs and demonstrating expected outcomes is an important part of your decision to have surgery. As an optometrist in practice for more than 20 years in the Saddleback Valley, Dr. Roberts will give you an honest opinion.

At a time when many surgeons perform the LASER - LASIK procedure, Dr. Roberts ensures your best results by being affiliated with the most qualified surgeons and laser centers with the latest equipment. As your primary eyecare doctor, he will provide your ongoing care and carefully monitor your eyes following your surgery.

LASIK Explained
Lasik or Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis treats refractive errors by removing corneal tissue beneath the surface of the cornea. The eye is anesthetized with drops at the beginning of the procedure to ensure a painless experience. A laser is first used to create a flap on the front surface of the cornea, which is 3 human hairs thick. Opening the flap is much like opening a cover of a book.

The computer driven laser is then programmed to vaporize microscopic layers of the internal corneal tissue under the flap. After the cornea is reshaped, the flap is closed, much like closing a book. The cornea has extraordinary bonding qualities that allow effective healing without the use of stitches.

Quick Procedure & Fast Results
The entire procedure takes only 10 minutes. Most patients experience a dramatic improvement in their vision within 24 to 48 hours, allowing them to resume normal activities and work. However, it may take several weeks for vision to stabilize.
